Some stories unknown with the narratives, or sometimes “-minor” events left beyond the attention of historians are reflected in photos. The shots make some not widely known stories alive, or presents them by completely different angle. This time we would like to focus on the extreme sports event held in south Ossetia autonomous region. This is Motocross, motorcycle racing on a predetermined difficult terrain. 1928 is considered to be the date of the official recognition of motocross in the Soviet Union, a year when motocross was included in the Spartakiad of Workers in the USSR. In the Soviet Union, motorcycle racing was frequently held, with competitions beginning among the districts and cities of the Allied republics and ending with the championships of the Soviet Union. There were also held comradeship racings. Usually the Motocross were dedicated to famous people or events.
It happened in 1966 when South Ossetian Autonomous Region hosted one of the Motocross events. The participants were competing with wheelchair bikes. Schoolchildren were also present the event that indicates the importance of the sporting event. This day has gone down in history forever with the lens shot by a photographer.
